Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev warned of the coming critical decade, Tengrinews.kz reports from the sitting of the Assembly of People.

"The events of the first months of this year show that the coming decade will be a critical one. Mass protests and unrest in the Middle East are spilling from one country to another without ceasing. The economies of recently successful countries are being cast several decades back. Humanitarian problems exposed by the global crisis are being accompanied by price rises, drug trafficking and terrorism. Large-scale hunger threat is looming over many countries. About one billion people are enduring hunger nowadays and five million people are starving to death every year,” said Nursultan Nazarbayev.

Calling Kazakhstan people to unite, the President cited an English writer: “That men do not learn very much from the lessons of history is the most important of all the lessons that history has to teach”.

“Knowing this history, we will be happy about the peace in our homeland, will be united together and will be maintaining this peace,” said the President.

Chairman of Kazakhstan Assembly of People Nursultan Nazarbayev noted that prospects of the global economy are complicated by the long-drawn crisis in a number of European countries.

“Many countries of the European Union openly admit the failure of multicultural policies. Interethnic clashes are escalating all over the world. Public mockery over Koran caused righteous indignation in the Muslim community,” said Kazakhstan President.

Speaking of the critical decade, the President raised an issue of Japanese disaster.

"Kazakhstan is one of a few safe countries of the world, and we can continue showing to the world the example of stability, tolerance and consolidation of the society", Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
