Solar power station launched in Almaty oblast

A solar power station was launched under the UN-sponsored project in Sarybulak village of Almaty oblast, Megapolis writes. The station's area is one hectare. It is made of six 20-meter panels accumulating solar energy. The station produces over 52 kWh of energy. "This is a renewable source of energy and it is part of Kazakhstan's development program. The unit is controlled by only two people. They are local residents that were specially trained in South Korea. We are now considering transfer of the plant into state ownership," deputy governor of Kerbulak region Bakbergen Issabekov said. The solar station helped the village get its first water well. The water is produced from the depth of 130 meters. According to local citizens, a real consumer boom has started in the village. People are buying TV-sets, fridges and other appliances. The solar station has been built under the Green Village international project. The project has been implemented by Almaty oblast administration, Dostyk-Energo, South Korean corporation Daisung Energy and KIOCA energy agency. The facility worth $580 thousand has been under construction since 2010 in line with the agreement between Kazakhstan and South Korea and at the cost of the foreign partners.
