Piano-shaped concert hall unveiled in Almaty19 july 2014, 15:51
Mayor of Almaty city Akhmetzhan Yessimov has unveiled new Alatau concert hall in Almaty in the beginning of July, Tengrinews reports referring to the press office of Almaty Akimat (city administration). The opening of the new concert hall was timed to the 6th anniversary of the city's Alatau District.
The new multipurpose cultural venue with an area of 10 thousand square meters is located in Alatau district, which is to the west of Momishuly street and to the north of Ryskulov street. It is the first culture venue built in the city over the past 35 years.
"The opening of the new cultural venue is a landmark event for our city. The 1040-seat concert hall with two movie halls is a huge gift not only to the residents of Alatau district, but also for the entire city. I am sure that this stage will be seeing a lot of brilliant events, " Akhmetzhan Yessimov said.
The new building designed in the shape of a grand piano was built along modern technologies and standards, equipped with professional sound equipment and air conditioning system.
"I am sure that there will be many bright and wonderful performances within the walls of this venue and we will witness birth of new Kazakh pop stars on this stage. In addition, the premises of the cultural venue will be adapted for children's clubs, art studios, vocal and choreography classes. There are a lot of rooms, I checked it just yesterday, " Mayor of Almaty Akhmetzhan Yessimov said at the opening ceremony.
Construction of the cultural venue started in 2012. Toktar Yergaliyev was the chief architect of the building.
Popular Kazakhstani performers including Roza Rymbayeva, Medeu Arynbayev, Dina Khamzina, and Otyrar Sazy orchestra performed on the stage of the new concert hall as a part of the opening ceremony.
Almaty Universiade-2017 venues such as the Ice Arena and the Olympic Village are being constructed around the concert hall.
