Kazakhstan Minister of Oil and Gas Sauat Mynbayev talked about construction of a plant producing liquified methane, Tengrinews.kz reports. "A gas network could be created at Tarbagatai. This issue will be reviewed at the meeting with Prime-Minister. If part of this gas is sent to China and if this decision is approved, there is a possibility to construct a L&G plant under the terms that are currently being discussed with China. There has been nothing similar in our history. This is liquified methane. It could be transported by trucks and cisterns. This is not propane-butane mixture. This is a new gas, but there is a lot of it in the world," Minister said answering the question of deputy Nurtai Sabilyanov. As for development of oil and gas fields in Zaisan area of East-Kazakhstan oblast, Mynbayev said that the volumes of oil and gas are small in this field. For example, geological gas reserves are estimated at 3 billion cubic meters. According to the Minister, this is enough to constructing a network in Semei and other neighboring towns of the region. According to the Minister, the investments may not pay off, however. Mynbayev also replied to the question on export of cheap petrol from neighboring regions to Russia. According to the Minister, "it is impossible to counter that, as we live in the Common Economic Space", and the excise duties on fuel in Kazakhstan are 4-5 times lower than in Russia and the only way out of this situation is only to balance the duties, but this issue has not been resolved yet. Besides, Mynbayev apologized to deputy Yelena Tarassenko for being rude at the meeting of Nur Otan party on February 27, when answering the question why fuel in Kazakhstan is more expensive than in Russia. Back than the Minister asked the deputies to not ask incorrect questions.
