Kazakhstan’s President launches two new railway links
22 августа 2014, 15:01Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev has launched two new railway links along the routes Zhezkazgan-Beineu and Arkalyk-Shubarkol, a Tengrinews.kz journalist reports, citing the Press Service of the Kazakhstan Temir Zholy National Railways Operator.
Head of state thanked all the railway industry specialists and construction workers for the two major railway projects.
Combined length of the two links stands at over 1200 km. Zhezkazgan- Beineu line is a short-cut from the Central Kazakhstan to the Caspian port of Aktau further on to the border with Turkmenistan and countries of the Persian Gulf. Arkalyk-Shubarkol line links the central Kazakhstan to Russia and further on to West Europe countries.
According to President Nazarbayev, the railway links will benefit Karaganda, Mangistau, Aktyubinsk, Kyzylorda and Kostanai oblasts and will have a positive impact on development of Zhezkazgan town.
