Russian helicopters will be assembled in Kazakhstan, Tengrinews.kz reports from the 9th Forum of Interregional Cooperation of Kazakhstan and Russia in Pavlodar. The Forum was attended by Presidents of Russia and Kazakhstan.

President of Russia Vladimir Putin announced the intention to establish a facility for assembling civil helicopters.

“Engineering is a priority area for attraction of new technologies. We plan to build a full-cycle car-assembling plant in Kazakhstan. We are also interested in jointly assembling Ka-226 helicopters,” Russia’s President said. He called both projects very significant.

“Implementation of these programs will enable us to approach new production chains and improve the quality and scale of the industrial cooperation between the countries,” he noted.

The Forum included signing of an agreement on protection, reproduction and use of saiga variety, protocol on amendments to the Agreements between Kazakhstan and Russia’s government on trade and economic cooperation on oil and oil products supplies to Kazakhstan dated December 9, 2010 and a protocol simplifying procedure of borders crossing by Emergency Situations Ministries' personnel of both countries.

The saiga is a critically endangered antelope which originally inhabited a vast area of the Eurasian steppe zone from the foothills of the Carpathians and Caucasus into Dzungaria and Mongolia.

The total of 27 agreements on cooperation between the business circles of both countries was signed. It was agreed to hold the next anniversary forum of near-border cooperation in Yekaterinburg.
