Kazakhstan to cash in on satellites assembly

05 december 2013, 12:20
Launching an assembly-and-testing facility to produce space vehicles in 2015, Astana will be seeking to cash in on assembly of satellites and their components, Newskaz.ru reported December 3, citing Vice Chairman of KazKosmos National Space Agency Mr. Meirbek Moldabekov as saying.

“Kazakhstan-made parts and labor contribution will account for 55% of satellites production (…) if a satellite is estimated at $100 million, Kazakhstan will secure parts and labor worth $50 million”, he said.

“This facility will be first of its type within the CIS (…) the production facility will be producing satellites not only for Kazakhstan, some of them will be sold to other nations”, he elaborated.

According to him, the project comprising an assembly facility and a design office will enable to design satellites, produce certain components, assemble and test satellites.
