Kazakhstan and Ukraine will jointly manufacture AN-140-100 planes. The agreement on joint production was made during Kazakh-Ukrainian business-forum held is Astana on November 24, Tengrinews.kz reports.

AeroKZ and Antonov State Aviation Concern will be manufacturing aircrafts. The companies will also offer after-sale maintenance of AN-140-100 aircrafts in Kazakhstan. The assembling plant is planned to be located in Almaty oblast. The plan is that some components will also be manufactured in Kazakhstan, which will increase Kazakhstan’s share in the project.

AN-140-100 is an updated and improved version of AN-140 that has replaced old AN-24. The aircraft can be used on unprepared runways. The first company to buy this plane was Ukrainian Ilch-Avia that bought two units.

First 4 aircrafts were sold outside of Ukraine in 2004. Azerbaijan bought them. AN-140 is certified under AP-25 standards. The cabin is made to fit 52 passengers. The aircraft has a 6-cubic-meter main luggage compartment and an additional 3-cubic-meter luggage compartment that can be used for additional baggage. The interior includes comfortable seats, sound-absorbing panels, individual ventilation systems, multi-channel audio-system and original overhead lockers.

The aircraft also has a cargo-passenger version, as well as transportation and VIP modifications with higher comfort and extended flying range. The aircraft is manufactured by Kharkov State Aviation Industrial Facility in Ukraine, Aviakor aviation plant in Samara, Russia, and an aviation plant in Iran. 4 planes were manufactured in 2010 (for Iran).

Besides, Ukrainian International Airlines and SCAT air company have signed a pro-rate agreement (an agreement signed between air-companies on flights directions via certain cities) that help set special lower rates for passengers.
