India mulls exporting nuclear reactors to Kazakhstan

Indian and Kazakh governments are negotiating export of nuclear reactors, TwoCircles.net reports. Indian Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) V. Narayanasamy told the parliament that the government is developing a program to export nuclear reactors. "Preliminary discussions in this regard are in progress with Kazakhstan. The details of foreign exchange likely to be earned will be known only if proposals in this regard take final shape," he said. The politician also added that reactors will be produced in line with to all the required parameters of Indian industry both in state and private sectors. At the plenary meeting of the Summit on safe and innovative use of nuclear energy in April 2011 Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev spoke about the need to establish common security standards for nuclear energy facilities.
