Almaty-Baiserke-Talgar gas pipeline launched in Almaty Oblast

Almaty-Baiserke-Talgar gas pipeline has started working in Almaty Oblast in southern Kazakhstan, Tengrinews reports citing the regional Akimat (local authorities).

The new gas pipeline was unveiled by the Almaty Oblast Akim (Mayor) Amandyk Batalov and General Director of KazTransGas Serik Sultangali.

“The investment project to construct the Almaty-Baizerke-Talgar main gas pipeline has been implemented in pursuance of the tasks outlined in the Presidential State-of-the-National Address and to develop the gas infrastructure of Almaty Oblast. This gas pipe line with a capacity of 2.4 billion cubic meter per year would provide gas to 60 populated areas with a total of 380 thousand inhabitant. In future, the project aims to provide gas to 600 thousand people. In addition, in future, after the Almaty-Taldykorgan gas pipeline is completed, gas would become available to 80% of the population of Almaty Oblast,” the Akim said.

The construction of the Almaty-Baiserke-Talgas gas pipeline started in 2010. The total length of the $428 million worth gas pipeline is 64.4 km. Pipes and equipment manufactured in Kazakhstan were used in the construction of the gas pipeline.
