Kazakhstan Prime-Minister Serik Akhmetov has instructed to solve the problem of deficit of cardiac surgeons within two years, Tengrinews.kz reports from the government meeting.

"The number of the required operating rooms currently stands at 40. Considering that current population of Kazakhstan that makes 16 million people, 400 surgeries have to be performed in each of the operation room. This way we will meet the need for the surgeries in Kazakhstan. Unfortunately, we have not enough cardiac surgeons to make surgeries on their own in these 40 operation rooms. We have set this task for this year," Healthcare Minister Salidat Kairbekova told the PM.

"So the conditions have been created and now we need experts. This gap has to be filled during this year and next year. This also applies to stroke centers. This year we are opening 28 additional centers to cover the needs, i.e. the conditions will be created. We have to have the same for haemodialysis. Haemodialysis centers have been tested and are operating under state-private partnership principles. We have to implement this practice in other directions as well," Akhmetov instructed.
