Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev speaks in favor of thrashing out the Eurasian Economic Union to be launched in 2015, Newskaz.ru reports, citing President Nazarbayev as saying in his recent interview for the Russia 24 Channel. January 1, 2012 Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan launched a Common Economic Space (CES) with free movement of goods, services and capital within its frameworks. The SEC is seen as a milestone towards the Eurasian Economic Union. “The three nations have similar economic conditions and similar aspirations of the national elites. The Customs Union has brought about obvious benefits: the trade turnover has grown by 30-40% [since its foundation] (…) The task is to expand and deepen the integration … without excessive haste”, President said. Head of Kazakhstan reminded that by 2015 “the agreements will translate into legislation; the economic space will be transparent; we will have announced the Economic Union”. In November 2011 in Moscow presidents of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan signed a declaration on the Eurasian economic integration that seeks to launch the Eurasian Economic Union by January 1, 2015. According to President Nazarbayev, “local integration serves the interests of people (…) to ensure effective development, any nation needs developing neighbors among other things”.
