Newly designed banknote with a nominal value of 10,000 tenge has been released in Kazakhstan, Tengrinews.kz reports, referring to the official press-release published on May 17.

“According to the law №2155 “On the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan” as of March 30, 1995, the National Bank of Kazakhstan has released the newly designed 10,000 tenge banknote 10 calendar days after the first official publishing of the National Bank’s board of directors decree №107 as of March 26, 2012,” the press-release reads. Both the new 2012 banknote and the old 2006 one willbe in circulation at the same time, the National Bank instructs.

The banknote’s predominant color is blue and violet. The main images that are depicted on the obverse are Kazak Eli Monument in the right side of the banknote and flying doves in the bottom in the center of the banknote. The main image on the reverse is the Ak Orda presidential residence and an outline of Kazakhstan map in the background.

The period of simultaneous circulation of 10 000 tenge banknotes of 2012 and of 2006 years of release is regulated in accordance with National Bank’s decree and will last until April 10, 2014. “During the period of the simultaneous circulation both types of the banknotes shall be considered legitimate means of payment at the whole territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan and shall be accepted in all types of payments and money transfers according to the nominal value,” the press-release reads.
