Almaty's budget revenues made $2 billion in 2012

Budget revenues of Almaty made 305.6 billion tenge ($2 billion) in 2012, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Almaty Akim (Mayor) Akhmetzhan Yessimov as saying at the annual meeting with citizens. “The budget received 730 thousand tenge ($4.9 thousand) per capita and Almaty bolstered its position as the country’s financial center. This a contribution and a result of efforts of every Almaty citizen. And I would like to thank you for that,” Yessimov said. He added that Almaty citizens were the ones who should feel the effect of the economic growth first of all. Almaty budget received 18 percent more taxes and payments compared to 2011. Almaty is responsible for nearly 18 percent of the GDP of Kazakhstan and for around 24 percent of all the incomes of the Kazakhstan state budget. According to Yessimov, last year’s city dynamics was as follows: 521.5 billion tenge ($3.5 billion) worth of goods were produced, which is 3.3 percent higher than in 2011. The volume of retail commodities turnover grew by 6.7 percent and made 1.3 trillion tenge ($8.5 billion). Almaty was ranked Number One City in Kazakhstan by volume of trade.
