Four major fires were registered by 5:40 p.m. today in Almaty. Besides Mokhnatka Mount in Medeu Gorge and the Botanic Garden, the smoke is also seen above the Almaty Airport and in Ainabulak region, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the press-service of Almaty Emergency Situations Department. According to the authority, the message about the fire at 2 hectares of dry wood in the airport area was received at 4:19 p.m. One fire-fighting crew left for the accident site. Another fire was registered in Ainabulak region. According to the authority, the fire covers the area of 200 square meters next to School No.129. Earlier Tengrinews.kz English reported that dry wood caught fire in the Botanic Garden in Almaty. The area on the fire made 2 hectares at 2:09 p.m. (Astana time). The fire on Mokhnatka Mount in the Ile-Alatau National Park in the vicinities of Almaty, Kazakhstan’s biggest city was reported at about 10 p.m. on August 22. The area on fire totaled 18 hectares as of 09.05. a.m. Astana time August 23. The fire quenching operation involves 536 people, 43 on-ground vehicles and three helicopters.
