Roads in Astana will be closed on May 30 and 31

Several roads in Astana will be closed for traffic on May 30 and 31, Tengrinews.kz reports according to the website of Astana Akimat (municipal authorities). "As the 4th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions will be held in Astana on May 30 and 31, additional security measures will be applied in terms of traffic safety and public order maintenance. According to the plan of the arrangements, 450 officers of traffic police, 100 police cars and 5 vehicle carriers of traffic police will be involved in ensuring traffic safety and escorting of guarded persons and official delegations," the message published on Astana Akimat's website says. During the days of the Congress traffic flows along some of the streets of Astana city will be temporary limited. During inauguration of Asharshylyk Khurbandary (Victims of Famine) monument on the crossing of Republic Avenue and Adai Avenue near Tourist hotel on May 31 all the traffic will be forbidden in the area between Seyfulin Street and Republic Avenue, and Kenesary Street and Zheltoksan Streets from 9:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m. No traffic will be allowed in the following locations: - along Republic Avenue between Kenesary Street and Bogengai Avenue; - along Auezov Street between Kenesary Street and Bogenbai Avenue; - along Beibytshylyk Street between Kenesary Street and Bogenbai Avenue; - along Seyfulin Street between Zheltoksan Street and Valikhanov Street; - along Abai Avenue between Zheltoksan Street and Valikhanov Street; - along Begeldinov Street between Zheltoksan Street and Beibytshylyk Street. There will be no limitation for public transport, though. Six standing posts at major intercity highways around Astana will be operating round the clock during the Congress to ensure additional security and monitor inbound and outbound transport as part of Rubezh project of the traffic police.
