Over 200 Kazakhstan citizens have been unable to leave Sanya airport at the south of Hainan island for 3 days because of the plane damage, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the manager of irregular flights of SCAT airline Vladimir Zhitnikov. All the citizens are the passengers of Boeing-757 of SCAT’s charter flight. According to the SCAT’s representative, the flight is delayed over technical reasons. “People were supposed to leave three days ago. But significant technical failure of the plane was discovered before the take off, that’s why the flight was delayed. The first delay was for 22 hours and we were promised that the plane would be fixed in that period of time, but it did not happen,” Zhitnikov said. The flight is now expected to leave Hainan at night of May 7. The plane will then arrive in Almaty at 5:30 a.m. on May 8. According to Zhitnikov, there are 230 Kazakhstan passengers waiting to board that plane. The airline declines to provide any details of the plane’s failure. “The passengers will have to submit all the reimbursement claims over the delay of the flight to the tour company that organized their trips. The company will then transfer the claims to us,” Zhitnikov said.
