Pilot was dodging passenger plane when crashed in Aktobe

The pilot of the L-39 plane that crashed in Aktobe was trying to avoid smashing into a passenger aircraft, Tengrinews.kz reports citing deputy head of the Air Defense Military Institute Kassymbek Kenzhebayev. The plane crashed during landing at around 08:00 p.m. (Astana time) on July 17. The accident claimed the lives of the Military Institute’s Flights Safety Supervisor Сommander Yevgeniy Vissarionov and a second-year student of the Military Institute Arman Massalimov. The bodies of the victims will be transported to their home towns. The student was from Astana and the Supervisor was from Burabai village in Akmola oblast. The Institute received eight L-39 planes in 2011. They were used for the training flights 3 times a week. According to the preliminary information, the crashed plane was operating properly and was checked before the flight. The onboard recorder has already been extracted. The commission led by head of the Flights Safety Department Murat Kazhmuratov is working at the accident site. The commission also includes representatives of the Senior Military Prosecutor’s Office and the Military-Investigational Department of the Interior Ministry of Kazakhstan. Earlier Tengrinews.kz English reported that a criminal case was initiated for violation of flight rules and flight preparations over the accident.
