Nearly 50 flights delayed in Almaty

49 flights have been delayed because of bad weather at the airport in Almaty in Kazakhstan's south, Tengrinews reports citing the press-service of Almaty Airport.

Due to adverse weather conditions in Almaty the airport delayed all incoming Air Astana flights from Seoul, Zhezkazgan, Karaganda, Aktobe, Urumqi, Moscow (two flights), Pavlodar, Dushanbe, Tashkent, New Delhi, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kyzylorda, Baku, Dubai, St. Petersburg, Bishkek, Amsterdam and Astana (three flights).

The flight from London arrived with a delay of 45 minutes, the one from Frankfurt – with a delay of two hours, from Shymkent - with a delay of two hours as well. Flight delays range from 1 to 19 hours.

In addition, the fog delayed are the arrivals of SCAT airlines making flights from Kokshetau, Semey, Phuket and Ust-Kamenogorsk. The flight from Shymkent arrived with a four hours delay, from Aktau - with a delay of three hours.

Also delayed are the flight of KazAirJet from Astana, two Transaero Airline flights from Moscow and the flight of Turkish Airlines from Istanbul.

Additionally, due to bad weather and rescheduling of arrivals, Almaty Airport is delaying the departures of the following Air Astana flights: to Urumqi, Bangkok, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kyzylorda, Astana, Bishkek, Atyrau, Kazan, Shymkent, Karaganda, and two flights to Seoul.

Delayed is the departure of KazAirJet flight to Astana, SCAT’s flight to Kostanay and Asian Airlines to Seoul.

So far, 15 flights have not been able to depart from Almaty on schedule. Delays of the departures range from 30 minutes to five hours.
