Mountain race ends in tragedy in Kazakhstan's Almaty21 июля 2014, 21:08
It is reported that the rider with number 6 lost control of his Ducati 1098 and slammed into a guardrail. In the collision he sustained multiple injuries and was urgently hospitalized. He was taken to an intensive care unit. However, the injuries were incompatible with life and the man died in the hospital. He was buried on 15 July.
The dead biker's name was Anton Yukhimenko. He was 34 years old and had a wife and three children.

The tragic accident happened right at the start of the race. According to eyewitnesses, they noticed that the driver made a mistake when beginning to make a turn and started to lose control. This mistake proved to be fatal. Yukhimenko tried to stabilize the motorcycle but could not avoid hitting the guardrail.
The race was suspended because of the accident but was restarted a little later. However, instead of racing the 20-kilometer route twice, the participants made only one loop. The race was then stopped.
There were rumors that the road was unprepared for the race. Manager of the race Viktor Kliuchnikov denied this. He said that the road had been scrubbed clean and trial races were held in the morning right before the main race.
"They write that supposedly the race track was not ready – this is all untrue. It was ideal. All roughnesses had been scrubbed clean. All the drivers had passed medical examination and felt good,” he said. “Anton crashed right at the start. He lost control, human error was the cause. It was an accident. "
Kliuchnikov said that all the motorcyclists had life insurances and the family of the deceased would get aid and support.
The race was first held last year and was expected to become an annual tradition.
