Eleven border guards have ran away from Kazakhstan-Chinese border post, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the press-service of the Border Service of Kazakhstan National Security Commission.

"Early in the morning of June 18 eleven soldiers of Tersairyk border post of Zaissan near-border troops of Shygys regional department, drafted in November 2011, willfully left the territory of the post without weapons," the press-service stated.

According to the border service, head of the post tried to organize the search independently and informed the management on the emergency only at night.

"The search is currently held by the border services, Interior Department and Department of the National Security Commission. The border is safeguarded by additional border troops relocated to the post. According to preliminary information, military hazing pushed the soldiers into fleeing the post," the press-service stated.

Representatives of the management of the Border Service, officers of the Military Prosecution, oblast departments of the National Security Commission and the Interior Department are currently working at the incident site.

Military prosecutors initiated a criminal case under article 380 part 1 of Kazakhstan Criminal Code (Omission or misuse of powers by officials and management of the military unit).

The search parties managed to locate the soldiers 18 kilometers away from Tersairyk border post in the afternoon on June 19.

"The search party located all eleven conscripts from Tersairyk border post 18 kilometers from the Tersairyk border post near Zhanatalal village of Tarbagatay region of East Kazakhstan Oblast at 1:40 p.m. on June 19, 2012," press-service of the Border service of Kazakhstan National Security Commission reported.

According to the Border Service of Kazakhstan National Security Commission the conscripts have been brought back to their border post. Military prosecutors are investigating into the case.
