A workers’ dormitory burnt to ashes in the camp next to Tengiz oil field in Atyrau oblast of Kazakhstan, Ak Zhaiyk writes. No casualties were reported. There was nobody in the building when the fire started.

The accident happened in the morning of October 7. Fire-fighters received a call about the fire at 8:35 a.m. The fire was quenched at 11:00 a.m. The fire totally destroyed a prefab building with the area of over 1,000 square meters.

However, later senior inquiry officer of the oblast Emergency Situations Department Rustem Abuyev told Interfax-Kazakhstan that there were two dormitories on fire in Tengiz.

According to him, both of the buildings were rented by Denhome-Zholdas. “82 people used to live in these dorms. There were provided with temporary housing after the fire. Investigators of the Emergency Situations Department are currently working at the accident site to find out what caused the fire and evaluate the damage caused,” Abuyev said.
