“She is conscious now. She can speak and understand everything. She says that she was sitting in the plane near the front door, the only seat that remained intact. 'When I came to myself', she said, 'I saw a mechanic lying next to me. I started screaming for help'. Then she says she saw Director General (Gabit Toleubayev), she called out to him, but he did not respond. She says that the snow was one meter depth, she began to dig it to get out," Azamat Shayakhmetov told a Tengrinews journalist.

Then Asem managed to take get a phone from a pocket of one of the men killed in that crash. It was 3.50 pm. She called the rescuers. Asem was found later, at around 5.40 pm. and was taken to to a hospital in nearby Shu town at 7 pm, her brother continued.

All people on the board were sleeping during the flight, Asem said. “She says she woke up from a blow. She does not remember anything including how they started falling,” her brother continued.

Asem was found in a very bad shape, with a pelvic fracture, broken legs and ribs, multiple injuries and a brain concussion. She was first operated in Zhambyl Oblast where her fractured bones were realigned and she got some anti-shock treatment.

After her condition became more stable, she was transported by air to Astana.

Young woman needed a lot of blood and although she has rare fourth (AB) blood group many people including her colleagues from Kazakhmys, friends and other Kazakhstanis donated blood for her.

The blood donations are currently enough for Asem to undergo another surgery this Tuesday. The doctors are now monitoring her condition very closely.

“We are all happy that she is alive. She is telling the doctors ‘I will get better in three months, and in three months I will go to work',” Azamat said.

“She has always been like that – a positive, energetic and cheerful person,” Azamat said.

Meanwhile, the doctors in Astana promised to put the patient back on her feet in about three weeks. A complete recovery may take a year, they said.
