In 2014 Kazakhstan is planning to spend $1.7 million on training of its doctors abroad to improve their qualification, Tengrinews reports citing Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Healthcare.

Almazov Federal Medical Research Center and Kazan Advanced Medical Technology Center in Russia, Riga Eastern Clinical University Hospital in Latvia, Vilnius University Hospital Santariskiu Clinic in Lithuania, Alexandrov National Scientific and Practical Center of Oncology and Medical Radiology in Belarus, Nagasaki University in Japan, Meir and Sheba clinics in Israel, Charité hospital in Germany, Seoul National University in South Korea, Gustave Roussy Institute in France, and the medical center of the University of Pittsburgh in the United States are going to be among the hospitals that will take in Kazakh doctors for advanced training.

"The cost of the training for Kazakhstan doctors will vary depending on the duration of the course, the hospital they are trained at and the complexity of the training program. The training, travel, accommodation and catering expenses per one doctor will make around $11 thousand. The funding will come from the state budget," the Healthcare Ministry said.

In 2013, 128 Kazakhstani doctors went abroad to obtain new skills and knowledge in transplantation, neuropathology, diagnostic radiology, general surgery and neonatology. $883 thousand were spent on the training by the state budget in 2013.
