Kazakhstan civil pilots will be able to receive licenses complying with European standards, Tengrinews.kz reports. A draft memorandum on joint training of pilots was prepared during the recent visit to Finland of Kazakhstan delegation led by Kazakhstan Minister of Education and Science Bakytzhan Zhumagulov. Earlier a group of Majilis (lower chamber of the Parliament) deputies filed a request to Prime-Minister of Kazakhstan Serik Akhmetov inquiring about the civil aviation in Kazakhstan. MP Irian Aronova said that the questions were raised because of the recent plane crashes in Kazakhstan. “10 out of 13 accidents and crashes in civil aviation over the past years, not taking the recent ones into account, happened because of violations of flying techniques, the human factor in other words,” Aronova said. According to the memorandum, Kazakhstan pilots will be trained in line with European standards. According to the president of the Civil Aviation Academy of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Baizhumanov, the memorandum is expected to be signed during the visit of Finland President Sauli Niinisto to Kazakhstan in April 2013. The agreement provides for several directions of cooperation, including joint training of Kazakhstan pilots. They will study theory in the Civil Aviation Academy in Kazakhstan and get practical knowledge in the flying school in Helsinki. Another direction includes retraining and improvement of qualification of professors and instructors. The memorandum also provides for opening of a branch of the Finnish flying school in the Academy. The project’s major feature is that the pilots will get a chance to receive the licenses under European standards and perform domestic and international flights. The graduates of the Academy are currently allowed to fly domestic flights only. To get the license, the pilots are sent abroad by air companies they work for. By Assemgul Kassenova
