The first hearing on the case of the two students from Kazakhstan Azamat Tazhayakov and Dias Kadyrbayev accused in the United States of conspiring to destroy evidences in the Boston bombings case have been scheduled for August 13, The Huffington Post writes.

The two students from Kazakhstan have been charged with conspiracy to obstruct justice, obstruction of justice, and aiding and abetting for their role. The grand jury re-alleged all of the said charges, these finding them legitimate. If the two 19-year-old students are fund guilty on all counts they may be sentenced to 20 years in jail.

Initially the two Kazakhstan national were only charged with conspiring to destroy evidences so the new vision of the jury came as an unpleasant surprise to them.

Kadyrbayev’s attorney Robert Stahl is quoted by The Huffington Post as saying that the indictment was shocking and disappointing. “Dias Kadyrbayev did not obstruct justice and did not knowingly or intentionally take evidence from Dzohkhar Tsarnaev’s dorm room... Dias and the others voluntarily turned over the computer from Tsarnaev’s room and told the FBI where they could find the backpack that contained a packet of fireworks. The FBI recovered all of the items because of Dias’s complete cooperation with their investigation,” the lawyer said.

According to the investigators, Dias Kadyrbayev and Azamat Tazhayakov tried to conceal evidence in the case of Dzhokhar Tsarnayev accused of committing bombings in Boston. They are not charge with involvement in the bombings of their preparations.

The students confessed that they took the backpack and the laptop. The evidences were later found at a waste dump. FBI believes that “they took the backpack from Dzhokhar Tsarnayev’s room after they heard on the news that Dzhokhar was suspected of committing the terrorist attack.”
