Fraudsters cheated dozens of students willing to take part in Work and Travel program, KTK reports. 110 young people from Astana, Almaty, Karaganda and Kokshetau paid Katrin Work and Travel agency over $2,000 each but did not go to the U.S. for summer vacation. The company’s manager disappeared and its office is now occupied by a notary firm. The victims applied to the prosecutors and police. However, there the investigating have yielded no results so far. The agency has been arranging for students to go to the U.S. for the last three years, so the students’ parents did not have any suspicions about it. The only thing left from the company now is its website. The phones of all the managers and director are switched off. Head of Almaty Interior Department’s press-service Saltanat Azirbek said that a per-investigation check was underway. Over 50 people applied to police over this case.
