Over 3 thousand contraband mobile phones have been seized in Almaty, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the press-service of Almaty Customs Control Department.

A 834kg cargo container addressed to one of the companies in Kazakhstan arrived from the UAE. According to the declaration, the container was supposed to carry spare parts for cars: fittings, elbow fitting, connections, a clutch and a flange totally worth $8,100.

However, the customs services decided to check the cargo and discovered undeclared IPhone 3G, IPhone 4S, IPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy, HTC, Sony, BlackBerry, Nokia mobile phones of different modifications in the total quantity of 3,005 items. Besides, the container had 60 Samsung Galaxy Note tablets. The total cost of the contraband goods is being calculated. The Customs Control Department is currently performing a check and deciding on initiation of a criminal case for economic contraband.
