President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has received the CEO of Shell Ben van Bearden, Tengrinews reports citing Akorda.
During the meeting, thy discussed the company’s activities in Kazakhstan and its participation in the development of oil and gas industry of the country. Other topics included promising areas of cooperation, including implementation of various investment projects. They agreed on the importance of further strengthening and expansion of the cooperation.
President of Kazakhstan drew attention to the changes in the activity of the company, in particular its merger with the BG Group. Nursultan Nazarbayev noted that Shell, being one of the major investors in the economy of Kazakhstan, played an important role in the development of the Kashagan field.
The President expressed hope that the changes would have a positive impact on the obligations undertaken by the company.
Van Bearden congratulated Nursultan Nazarbayev on his reelection as the President of Kazakhstan, noting that the elections were a testament of stability not only for the country but also for foreign investors.
Besides, the executive director of Shell reminded that during last year's visit to the Netherlands in the framework of his participation in the Nuclear Security Summit, the Kazakh president was presented with a new variety of tulip "President Nazarbayev." As a follow-up the CEO of Shell presented Nursultan Nazarbayev with freshly cut flowers of the same variety imported from the Netherlands.
