Commodity trader Glencore denied the information on its intention to buy Kazakhstan metallurgical gigant Eurasian Natural Resources Corporation, The Telegraph writes.

"Glencore is screening a wide range of opportunities in the sector and we will continue to do so. Although we talk to a lot of people in the sector we are not currently actively considering a bid for ENRC,” said Ivan Glasenberg, Glencore's CEO.

The information about Glencore planning to buy Kazakhstan's ENRC for $19.5 billion appeared on June 13. It was reported that Glasenberg had already discussed the deal with the main shareholders of ENRC Aleksandr Mashkevich, Alidzhan Ibragimov and Patokh Shodiyev.

After the information on the possible deal the cost of ENRC shares spiked upwards. An average price of ENRC shares at London Stock Exchange grew 4.65 percent to 776.5 pence. Glencore shares grew 2.85 percent to 523.4 pence.
