Employees of ArcelorMittal Temirtau will get a salaries raise. The lasting labor dispute between the company’s administration and its metallurgists trade union has come to an end, Tengrinews.kz reports citing press-service of the company. “We are happy that we have managed to reach the agreement with the trade unions. Now we can concentrate on our companies. These objectives are especially timely in view of the continuing crisis in the global economy that has an impact on the metal products markets,” Director General of Arcelor Mittal Temirtau Vijay Mahadevan said. On July 16 the management of ArcelorMittal Temirtau and Zhaktau metallurgists trade union signed an agreement to raise the wages of the steel department employees. This agreement also covers the employees of the coal department. According to the signed agreement, the company will raise the rates and wages by 10.4 percent (including adjustment to 2011 inflation level of 7.4 percent) starting from January 1, 2012. The re-calculated amounts for January-July 2012 will be paid in August 2012 with the July salaries. Lasting additional payment will be introduced for low-paid categories of employees starting from July 1, 2012. The employees whose salaries will amount to 60,000 tenge ($408) or less after the 10.4 percent raise, will receive the additional monthly payment of 10,000 tenge ($68). The employees making up to 65,000 tenge ($442) inclusively, will get the additional monthly payment of 7,000 tenge ($47). Those getting up to 70,000 tenge ($476) inclusively, will get additional 5,000 tenge ($34) monthly. In October 2012 the parties will go back to discussing the issues with due considerations of changes of the situation in production, dispatches, availability of markets and stabilization of the company’s work. According to the agreement, the parties shall solve raising issues and disputes via negotiations.
