Astana-Seoul flight will be launched this summer, Tengrinews reports citing Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Investments and Development.

The aviation authorities of the two nations agreed to launch the Astana-Seoul flight during their talks in the capital city of South Korea. Representatives of Kazakhstan’s national airline Air Astana, Asiana Airlines, Korean Air, Jin Air and Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC) took part in the meeting.

Starting this summer, the flight will be performed twice a week.

According to the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Investments and Development of Kazakhstan, during the talks the Kazakh side proposed to increase the existing passenger carrying capacity between Kazakhstan and South Korea by 35 percent.

As a result of the negotiations, the two sides also signed the memorandum of understanding that envisaged an increase in the number of flights between the two countries.

Currently, Air Astana performs Almaty-Seoul-Almaty flight three times a week. In addition to that, Asiana Airlines operates Seoul-Almaty-Seoul flights twice a week.
