Kazakhstan's national airline Air Astana will fly to New York, Tokyo and Singapore. This is the task that President Nursultan Nazarbayev has put before the airline in his program "100 Concrete Steps," Tengrinews reports.

The program emphasizes the need for development of national companies Air Astana and Kazakhstan Temir Zholy - Kazakhstan's national air and rail companies. The goal is to turn these two into international operators.

"Air Astana will focus on international flights and open new routes to the main financial centers of the world: New York, Tokyo, Singapore. The development of Air Astana will be harmonized with the plans of KTZ (Kazakhstan Temir Zholy) to develop alternative routes that will halve the cost of delivery of cargos," the document said.

There are also plans to create an international aviation hub. A new international airport that meets international standards will be built near Almaty with the help of a strategic investor.

The aim is to improve the efficiency of state regulation of air transportation to increase the attractiveness of transit through Kazakhstan.

The Kazakh Civil Aviation Committee will follow the model of the British Civil Aviation Authority and the European Aviation Safety Agency.
