Two Kazakhstan residents have became part of the world famous Virtual Choir conducted by Eric Whitacre, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing Express K. The essence of the project is that thousands of people all over the world perform a composition, requested by Whitacre and send their records back to him. The composer combines the tracks all together and gets the melody of unprecedented beauty and scale, the newspaper article says. The Virtual Choir project was implemented in 2009 for the first time. A unique choir of 185 singers from 12 countries performed Lux Aurumque composition (Light and Gold) by Eric Whitacre. 3756 singers from 73 countries, including two from Kazakhstan took part in performance of Water Night, one of Whitacker’s latest compositions. Eric Whitacre is an American Grammy award winning composer, conductor and lecturer. He is one of the most popular and performed composers of his generation. In 2008, the all-Whitacre choral CD Cloudburst (released by the British ensemble Polyphony on Hyperion Records) became an international best-seller, topping the classical charts and earning a Grammy nomination. In addition to Whitacre's litany of choral and wind ensemble compositions, he is also known for his "Virtual Choir" projects on YouTube, bringing individual voices from around the globe together in a cyber internet choir. His virtual choirs have exposed his music to a new audience and have helped it gain an unprecedented popularity.
