The spirit of the Great Steppe now on DVD - The Spirit of Tengri08 november 2014, 19:11
Contemporary ethnic music festival The Spirit of Tengri was an event to remember in Kazakhstan's Almaty. It gathered musicians from various countries and took the audience to the roots with its ethnic chords. Those who missed the event or who want to experience it once again now have a chance. The festival organizers have prepared a special two-disc edition with a video from the concert that took place in front of the Republic Palace in Almaty on June 7, 2014 and a set of tracks recorded in a studio, Tengrinews reports.
The project was launched in 2013 by Tengri FM radio. Hopefully, this will turn into a tradition for years to come.
Last year, the second The Spirit of Tengri festival attracted more than eight thousand spectators under the open air in Almaty. Lasting for more than seven hours, the concert gathered musicians from various countries, such as Kazakhstan, Russia’s Bashkortostan, Buryatia, Altai and Tuva, Austria, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Georgia and Ecuador.
Performances of these artists will be available on DVD. A special two-disc edition will include a video version of the summer concert and a collection of the best tracks recorded in a studio. The video includes the most striking performances of each of the artists who performed at the seven-hour concert. The video is about an hour and a half long. As for the disk with tracks, they are different from those provided in the video.
The concert in support of the new DVD-edition will take place on November 26 in Almaty Towers at 8pm. The groups much acknowledged for their performance at The Spirit of Tengri - Namgar (Buryatia) and Argymak (Bashkortostan) - will present their new shows, prepared specially for this event.
Among the guests who will attend are some famous personalities, such as film critic Oleg Boretsky. "I will definitely come to this concert because it is yet another opportunity to witness this unique event, in the ocean of sounds, of music. Ethnic music does not lie on the surface but is closer to the roots. It expresses the origins of each nation and every culture. And this mix, this multicultural education provides an opportunity to feel and experience something larger within your soul. This is probably the most interesting," Boretsky said.
Kazakh TV presenter Serik Akishev, who visited the event both years, also praised the festival. "A modern festival of ethnic music is really THE event. This festival already has quite an army of fans. Gratitude to the organizers of this festival, who continue to work with it. I think it will be very interesting on November 26, we will definitely see each other there and feed on the spirit of the music of the steppes," Akishev said.
Organizers promise to demonstrate fragments of the new video, and present a show with exceptional sound and lighting. Immediately after the presentation the DVD will become available in the chain of stores “Meloman”, but all those wishing to buy it right away can do so during the show. Tickets to the presentation concert are already available for sale through Meloman chain of music stores and Zakazbiletov.kz.
