A schoolgirl from Ust-Kamenogorsk city in eastern Kazakhstan has clinched the first place at the III International Contest of Young Singers Golden Note held in Russian capital Moscow, Tengrinews reports citing Altaynews.kz.

Darya Shmalenko was the only singer out of 80 participants to get the highest possible score &ndash 60 points out of the possible 60.

The juries praised her vocal delivery. Russian musician and producer Igor Standler said: "You caught our attention from the very first note. (...) Well done! Your vocal is great, and you opened your soul. (...) The hard work you've been doing is evident."

Darya has been singing since the age of four, when her mother first noticed the girl&rsquos talent and passion for music. Darya has taken part in many contests in Kazakhstan and abroad since then. She is the second prizewinner of an international contest in St. Petersburg, the winner of international contests in Paris and Almaty. Last year, she won the grand prix at the international competition in New York in the United States.

&ldquoI used to sing as well. But my dream did not come true fully. And now I am making the dream come true together with my daughter. We have reached a certain level, but we need to move forward. We have recently sent an application to the Voice (singing contest), but Darya has not even turned 16 yet, and to be eligible to participate one should be at least 17 years old. We are waiting for a response,&rdquo the girl&rsquos mother Marina Shmalenko said.
