Robert De Niro watched Kazakhstan-made movie

Zhauzhurek Myn Bala (1000 Brave Boys) movie directed by Kazakhstan filmmaker Akan Satayev was screened in the capital of Qatar as part of the 4th Annual Doha Tribeca Film Festival that was held on November 17-24, 2012, KazakhFilm Studios website reports. The movie made it into the official selection of the movies in the Contemporary World Cinema category. “Everything went superb. The Festival was organized at the highest level. Prominent actor Robert De Niro was among the guests of the Festival, he is also one of the organizers of the event. Our movie became the first Kazakhstan-made movie that was screened at the Festival over the history of its existence. The movie was warmly accepted by the audience and also received some positive feedback from foreign mass-media,” the director of the movie said in the end of the Festival. Zhauzhurek Myn Bala movie's budget made $10 million. It was released in Kazakhstan in the beginning of May this year and earned a record $3 million in the first two weeks and set record by sales of DVDs among Kazakhstan made movies. The movie was screened as part of the Cannes Festival and at international Shaken’s Stars and Eurasia Film Festivals. The movie was nominated for Oscar in the Best Foreign Film category.
