Noreum Machi bring traditional Korean music to Astana Opera on October 4

Noreum Machi, a South Korean musical band, is performing at Astana Opera for the first time as a part of the International Silk Way Festival on October 4, Tengrinews reports.


Noreum Machi, a South Korean musical band, is performing at Astana Opera for the first time as a part of the International Silk Way Festival on October 4, Tengrinews reports.

The South Korean musicians are presenting magical ancient music instruments, enchanting dance and rap accompanied by brass instruments at the Chamber Hall of the Astana Opera.

Noreum Machi was created in 1993. The name of the band refers to a word that meant highest mastery of music improvisers. The musicians are frequent guests of the leading music stages all around the world. NoreumMachi toured over 170 cities in 50 countries that include Italy, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Netherlands, the USA, Australia, Japan, Brazil, Venezuela, Cambodia and others.

One of the most popular songs in the repertoire of NoreumMachi is Binari that according to legends protects from hardships and brings wealth, fame and long life. The deep and touching sound of bamboo heckelphone can be heard in a solo performance. According to the organizers, the solo performance of the bamboo heckelphone gives goose bumps to the audience. The Transient Rain song performed with the bamboo instrument is about hope for a rain that will wash away all the problems.

The audience will experience traditional Korean instruments along with peasant motives, shamanistic rhythm and popular songs.

 

The artists said that they could not wait to perform for the Kazakhstani audience.  

"We are happy to present traditional Korean music for Astana citizens as representatives of our culture. We will do our best to prepare for the performance that, we hope will not disappoint the festival crowd," the artists said.

The performance of Noreum Machi starts at 4:00 pm at Astana Opera, located on Kunayev street at the crossing with Turan avenue in Asatna, the capital of Kazakhstan. The tickets to the show start from 1500 tenge ($6) and can be bought online on the official website of the opera house.
