Marat Bissengaliyev to head new symphony orchestra of Almaty

Famous Kazakhstan violinist and conductor Marat Bissengaliyev now heads a new symphony orchestra in Almaty, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Almaty Department of Culture.

The presentation concert of the new orchestra led by Bissengaliyev will be held on October 10-12 in the Republic Palace as part of The First World Congress of Performing Arts. According to the Culture Department, the symphony orchestra of 50 people is made of international musicians; many of them have worked with Bissengaliyev before.

“The orchestra implements a successful experience of West-Kazakhstan philharmonic orchestra and especially Indian Symphony Orchestra that managed to make a global name for itself in a short period of time,” the message state.

Besides, the plan is to use Bissengaliyev’s experience of partnership with such world’s leading sound-recording labels like EMI, SONY BMG, Toccata Classic, Quartz, as well as with legendary studios Abbey Road and Angels.

The presentation concert of the Symphony Orchestra led by Marat Bissengaliyev will include Shakarim symphony by Karl Jenkins (Kazakh themes) “that certifies to high professionalism of the orchestra and seriousness of the project”, the Department adds.

Earlier Marat Bissengaliyev used to lead West-Kazakhstan philharmonic orchestra, however the local authorities decided to close it down. The decision was made after Uralsk cultural and music community applied to the Culture Department requesting to open a new oblast chamber philharmonic orchestra based on Bissengaliyev’s orchestra. The applicants insisted that the old orchestra failed to achieve its goals.

Marat Bissengaliyeva is a world-famous Kazakhstan’s violinist and conductor. He was born in Almaty in 1962. He first performed on stage at the age of 9. He is a winner of many prizes, including the Platinum Tarlan-2000. He lives and works mostly in Great Britain. The Times tagged the Kazakhstan violinist a “brilliant violin soloist”.
