Kazakhstan's Harmony Lessons and Shal awarded at Fajr Film Festival

Kazakhstan's film Harmony Lessons directed by Emir Baigazin has been awarded with Crystal Simorgh of the Special Jury Prize at the 32th International Fajr Film Festival in Iran, Tengrinews reports referring to the press-service of Kazakhfilm studio.

The 32th International Fajr Film Festival took place on February 1-11, 2014 in Tehran, Iran.

There were seven competitions at the event:

- Seeking the Truth ( Spiritual Film Contest);
- Eye for the Real (Documentary Film Contest), held in two subsections for full-length and medium-length documentaries;
- Symorgh Contest (Feature Film Contest);
- Oriental Vista (Competition of Asian Cinema);
- World Panorama (International Competition) in two subsections for short films and featured films.

Awards were handed to the winners during in the closing ceremony on February 11.

Kazakhstan's film Shal directed by Yermek Tursunov won a prize at the film festival as well. The Kazakh movie was awarded with the Crystal Simorgh Prize for the Best Technical or Artistic Achievement at the festival.

The Tangerines film by Georgian director Zaza Urushadze was awarded with the Crystal Simorgh Prize for the Best Film and Script and the Palestinian director Hany Abu-Assad gained the Crystal Simorgh for the Best Director's Work for his film Omar.

The jury board included Kazakhstan film expert Gulnara Abikeyeva, director Moumen Smihi from Morocco, Turkish film director Reis Celik, film professor Mohamed Mediouni of Tunisia and Iranian director and producer Homayoon Asadian.

The Fajr Film Festival or Fajr International Film Festival is Iran's annual film festival, held every February in Tehran, Iran. One of the most significant festivals of Middle East region is held since 1982 under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Iran. It takes place every year on the anniversary of the Iranian revolution.
