Kazakhstani guitar player aspires to win Guitar Idol 201427 july 2014, 17:08
Kazakhstani guitar player Artur Mashurov from On Top of Tengri rock festival is participating in the prestigious international competition Guitar Idol 2014, Tengrinews reports.
The competition has three online stages. In the first round, musicians upload a video of their performance on the official website of the competition. Only 100 guitar players chosen by the jury, sponsor and online voting pass into the second round. In the final round, only 8 out of these 100 musicians get a chance to compete for the title of the Guitar Idol and perform at the concert in London on September 13.
In the first round, Mashurov from Kazakhstan presented his own musical piece called Rush Hour. “My musical piece conveys my feelings. I always base my music on my inner feelings. If it is a song, it has to convey my thoughts. I had a period in my life when everything was changing rapidly and that is how this song came to be,” Mashurov said.
The musician added that the competition was not solely for beginners but there were well-established guitarist participating too. “To my surprise I discovered musicians whose lessons I studied when learning to play the guitar. They are very serious guys and a very serious competition,” Mashurov noted.
Guitar Idol was established by LickLibrary to help guitarists across the globe showcase their talents and kickstart their careers in the music industry. “It is a great promotion. (…) Musicians and producers from all over the world can hear and see them everyone perform. It is not only for the jury, but also for bands looking for musicians,” the guitar player said.
Mashurov advised amateur musicians to participate in all kinds of competitions and festivals to help their careers, noting that On Top of Tengri organized by Tengri FM was a great start for him.
