Kazakhstan singer 8th after 1st day of Slavianski Bazaar contest

Young singer Berdibek Kulgarayev who represents Kazakhstan at the 22nd International Festival of Arts Slavianski Bazaar 2013 in Vitebsk, Belarus, is in the 8th place after the 1st day of the contest, Tengrinews.kz reports.

On the first day the participants performed national songs in their native languages. The Kazakhstan singer chose to perform Kim Bilgen (Who knew) by famous Kazakh composer Yerzhan Serikbayev. Jury evaluated his performance with 85 points.

Berdibek Kulgarayev, 21, was born in Aktau city in western Kazakhstan. He is in his fifth year at Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts (the pop singing school, the class of the Merited Artist of Kazakhstan Professor Lucia Tulesheva). Kulgarayev is a winner of international contests in Bulgaria, Armenia and Korea.

Alexander Solovyov from Belarus took the leadership on the first day. Nine jury members out of ten, including famous pop star Larisa Dolina, gave him the highest mark. Romanian singer Chris was only one point behind with 97 points. And Michal Kaczmarek from Poland was the third with 96 points. Two singers also scored more than 90 points: Sabrina (93) from Croatia and Georgia's Archil (92). The winner will be announced on July 17. Kazakhstan's honored artist Yerlan Kokeyev is a member of the jury at the Slavianski Bazaar 2013.

Kazakhstan was represented by Daria Gabdull, winner of X-Factor Kazakhstan project at the International Pop Song Performers Contest Slavianski Bazaar 2012. Alisher Karimov from Kazakhstan won the third place at the contest in 2011. This year organizers invited Alisher to perform at the opening ceremony as a guest singer.



The International Festival of Arts Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk is an annual festival held in Vitebsk, Belarus under the auspices of the Belarus Government since 1992. Its is devoted to Slavic music. The main participants are artists from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, countries of the former Yugoslavia, Poland and Bulgaria with guests from many other countries, both Slavic and non-Slavic. It became a member of the International Federation of Festival Organizations (FIDOF) in 1998.
