Kazakh cartoon awarded at International Cinema Festival

A cartoon from Kazakhstan received the top award of the 10th Baikal International Cinema Festival Man and Nature, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing Interfax Kazakhstan. Maksut Zharimbetov's (South Kazakhstan) Saiga Saga-2 cartoon was awarded the best children movie at the Festival. One hundred and ten films from twenty nine countries participated in the event. 15 films from the U.S., Australia, Canada, Denmark, Netherlands, Germany, Serbia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia were officially selected for the program of the Festival. The 10th Baikal International Cinema Festival took place on October 7-10 in Irkutsk. One more Kazakhstani movie Kaussar has been entitled to participate at the Venice Cinema Festival. Gulsina Mirgaliyeva is the director and screenwriter of the film. The filming lasted for 20 days and took place in Zhanaozen, in Mangystau oblast.
