With a budget of $150 million, it grossed over $67 million to top the box office in its North America debut weekend, and returned to the top spot last week. The movie brought to fruition a project which was on Walt Disney's wish list, 25 years after Disney's last Andersen adaptation, "The Little Mermaid."
