The world premiere of Astana Opera theater will take four nights. The main premiere night is October 21 when Attila opera by Giuseppe Verdi will be performed. Pier Luigi Pizzi, the world famous Italian maitre and holder of the Knight of the Légion d'honneur (a French civilian honor), is the premiere's producer as well as its set and costumes director, Tengrinews reports referring to the theater's press-service. Pier Luigi Pizzi arrived in Astana on October 12. "Several months ago, I visited Kazakhstan on an invitation of the art director of Astana Opera house William Graziosi, I met with Director Tolegen Muhamedzhanov, who inspired me with his enthusiasm making me to love the new opera house. A couple days ago I saw the concert in the theater's Chamber Hall. The Meditation part from Thais opera by Jules Massenet that was dedicated to me by the first violin of Astana Opera Bagdat Abilkhanov, touched me deeply, old memories of directing the opera in the La Fenice theatre in Venice rushed over me," Pizzi said. Pier Luigi Pizzi is working on staging and scenography of Verdi's opera in the Astana opera house now. Most of the costumes and decorations are ready; they were brought to Kazakhstan from Italy. "The Astana staging of Attila originates from the recent performance in Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, but it won't be exactly the same. We had to extend the decorations in order to adapt them to the great space of the Kazakhstan's scene. As for the costumes for the Huns, they will be completely new, with interesting ethnic components. The dominant colors are red, combined with black, gold and white," the maitre said. Only a few days are left before the country's new theater premiere, and rehearsals are being held all the time. "Ildar Abdrazakov, the protagonist, is pleased to participate in the performance. I have created an image of a humane and mighty Attila, who is heroic and just at war, noble and passionate in love and humble before God. I have a great respect for all of the artists, especially I believe in the conductor Valeriy Gergiyev," Pizzi said. When asked if he would like to continue working with Astana Opera after the Attila performance, the maitre replied that his future was in the lap of Fortune and hoped it would bring him back again.
