In January-May 2011 official car dealers in Kazakhstan sold 13,410 light vehicles and light commercial vehicles. More than 2 times more (105 percent more) than in the same period of 2010, KazTAG reports citing Qncepto consulting company.

As per the company, 13,410 cars were sold in the last five months (105.49 percent more that in the same period of 2010). Last year this volume of sales was reached only by the end of September.

The doubling of last year's values happened, first of all, thanks to raising demand for cars assembled in Russia and Kazakhstan. Cars originating from the two countires were responsible for almost 64 percent of the sales increase in January-May. Import from far abroad and neighboring Uzbekistan contributed 33.1 and 2.9 percent to the dynamics of additional sales during the five months.

2,487 light vehicles were assembled in Kazakhstan in January-May, which is 3.53 times more than in the same period of 2010. Asia Auto manufactured 2,192 KIA, Chevrolet, Lada and Skoda cars. 295 SsangYong cars were assembled in AgroMashHolding Kazakhstan in the first 5 months of the year.

In five months from the beginning of 2011 sales of light vehicles assembled in Kazakhstan made 2,382 cars, which is 5.66 times higher than the last year's amount. The share of cars produced in Kazakhstan at the market of new light vehicles grew from 11.64 percent in January-May 2010 to 20.48 in the same period of 2011.

Official car dealers seta new sales record in May: 3,709 light vehicles were sold. This is a 2.3 times more compared to May 2010. Compared to April 2011, the growth made 10.29 percent.

Last month's values brought the market to pre-crisis sales level of 2008.

In addition of the existing growth the market of official car-retail in Kazakhstan is expected to get a new boost of long-term growth. Termination of the discounted customs tax rates on import of used cars for individuals and introduction of Euro-3 standard will stop import of cars that are older than 10 years and minimize the inflow of second-hand cars into the country.

In May sales of light vehicles grew 2.39-fold against the like period of 2010 and reached 2,755 cars. April result were exceeded by 11.11 percent. Exclusive of LCVs the market grew even faster: 11,089 cars sold during the first 5 months of 2011 against 5,285 in the same period of 2010.

The revival pace of the market of light commercial vehicles was also high. May sales made 648 vehicles (98.77 percents increase) against the last year's amount. The April 2011 growth made 6.58 percent. Overall sales in January-May made 2,321 LCV cars, which is 87.03 percent highter than the same period of 2010.
