50 road junctions in Almaty will be equipped with 200 video surveillance cameras in the nearest time, Tengrinews.kz reports citing press-secretary of Almaty Interior Department Saltanat Azirbek.

“There are currently 700 cameras installed in the city, including those at the Asian Winter Games facilities. 200 cameras will be installed at 50 conjunctions in the nearest time,” Azirbek said.

Earlier the Interior Department informed that stolen cars will be tracked with the use of video cameras. Video surveillance systems capable of reading and recording state number plates can help discover and arrest vehicles with illegal plates.

Over 100 crimes are detected by video cameras in Kazakhstan monthly.
