Kazakhstan’s tennis professional Andrey Golubev obtained victory for the Kazakhstan national team by winning over Belgium's Ruben Bemelmans in the first round of the Davis Cup held in Astana, Kazakhstan in February. Andrey Golubev, 26, won all three sets of the decisive match with the score of 6:2, 6:3, 6:1. This victory brought a wining point to the Kazakhstan team in the competition against Belgium. Kazakhstan won over Belgium with the score of 3:2 and reached the quarter-finals for the third time in four years.

Andrey Golubev is a Kazakhstani professional tennis player currently living in Italy. His career-high singles ranking is World No. 33, achieved in October 2010. He has participated in all Grand Slam tournaments, the first being the 2008 US Open, as well in the main draw of ATP Masters Series and ATP International Series events. He has won three Challenger tournaments and reached the final of the 2008 St Petersburg Open. He won the 2010 International German Open, an ATP World Tour 500 series event.
