This tour is the first project within the framework of the Memorandum of Cooperation signed by the two theaters a year ago.

Ballet lovers will be able to enjoy a romantic and mysterious play Giselle (1841) by French Adolphe Adam.

The play is based on an old legend about the Wilis, the spirits of women deceived by their lovers, who haunt the forest at night to seek revenge on any man they encounter, forcing their victims to dance until they die. It tells a story of a peasant girl Giselle, who is in love with Albrecht disguised as a peasant. But the girl knows nothing of his real life and moreover, of his upcoming marriage to another woman. When Giselle learns about her lover's deception, her weak heart gives out at last.

The play, choreographed by People's Artist of the USSR and Bolshoi Theatre's prima ballerina Ludmila Semenyaka, will star principal dancers of the Norwegian National Ballet Yolanda Correa and Yoel Carreno from Cuba.

While Yolanda Correa is well known for her flawless technique and coordination as well as grace and confident movements on stage, her partner Cuban Yoel Carreno playing the role of Albrecht will demonstrate his unique artistic personality through his complex set of virtuoso dance movements and the ability to create expressive dance combinations.

The ballet will start at 7 p.m. in Astana Opera House, located on Kunayev street, at the crossing with Turan avenue. The tickets can be purchased online on the theatre's official website. The price starts at 500 tenge ($2.69).
