"Talking" Quran will be shown at Iranian exhibition in Almaty

“Talking” Quran will be shown at the exhibition of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Almaty on August 25. The event is timed to the holy month Ramadan, Tengrinews.kz reports citing head of the center of cultural-educational work of Kazakhstan Central State Museum Anna Kuschenko. "For the first time Kazakhstan will be visited by craftsmen famous in Iran and outside for their art of calligraphy and fret metal work. The total of 60 works of two outstanding Iranian masters, Parviz Nazari (fret metal work) and Akhmad Mokhammadpur (calligraphy) will be presented. They will also hold master-classes,” Kuschenko saipositionedposition will be divided into two parts: the first section will contain paintings with ayats made in “kufi” calligraphy. Another section will be devoted to arts of modern Iranian calligraphy masters on Islam and Quran subjects. The exhibition will also present pictures of Holy Quran from Ghodse Razavi kept in Mashhad, Iran. Besides, the exhibition will contain rare scripts and editions of the Holy Quran, translations of Quran into foreign languages (English, French, German). The main feature of the exhibition will be a “talking” Quran. It is not yet known what this showpiece is going to be like. Most probably, it will be some kind of multimedia, the museum's employees suggest. It will be a surprise for them as well. The exhibition called Islamic Culture and Art in Works of Iranian Craftsmen will open in Kazakhstan Central State Museum on August 25. It will last until September 5, 2011.
